The 2014 Morland Writing Scholarships is open for submission. The Scholars will receive a grant of £18,000, paid monthly over the course of one year. The Morland Writing Scholarships is open to anyone born in Africa or both of whose parents were born in Africa. To qualify for the Scholarship a candidate must submit;
- a piece of published work, or an excerpt from a piece of published work (written in English), of between two and five thousand words (2000-5000 words) to be evaluated by a panel of readers and judges set up by the Miles Morland Foundation.
- a brief bio of fewer than three hundred words (300 words).
- a description of fewer than 500 words about the new book they intend to write. It should be a new work, not a work in progress. The proposed work must be in English as must all submissions.
- a scan of an official document showing that you, or both of your parents, were born in Africa.
